Professional Standard Seven

Reflection:

I understand this standard to mean that as a teacher I need to create safe and supportive learning environments for my students. Environment where they feel safe and comfortable to be themselves and openly learn and interact with each other. I am also required to take responsibility and ensure the class act in a responsible and respectful manner.

 

Strengths / Weaknesses:

I feel group work is a great way to create supportive working environments.  I feel my experience with having staff will help me mange groups and students so that they are able to work together effectively and be able to support and foster positive attitudes to learning.\

Artifacts:

-       I feel peer observation would be an effective artifact to assist in this area. Self assessment is hard due to the lack of opportunity to look at how I am with students from an external view point. Also volunteer work with sporting teams may help.

-       Create and conform to behavior management plans

-       Volunteer work with diverse youth
